Job description:

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Oracle and related DB technologies Operations specialist to join our team. 

Selected candidate will join our DB Operations team responsible for providing support and maintaining the overall performance reliability, and availability of our database systems. The DBA Operations team will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal database performance and support the organization's data management objectives.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine database administration tasks, including installation, configuration, migration, patches, and upgrades of database systems.
• Identify and resolve database performance issues, including tuning SQL queries, optimizing indexing, and implementing necessary database changes.
• Conduct ongoing monitoring and proactive management of database systems to ensure high availability and performance.
• Support database backup and recovery activities, ensuring appropriate backup strategies and disaster recovery plans are in place.
• Collaborate with application development and infrastructure teams to provide database support for applications and projects.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents and problems, both independently and in collaboration with other technical teams.
• Provide operational support, including capacity planning, system performance analysis, and resource utilization monitoring.
• Develop and maintain documentation related to database administration procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
• Participate in an on-call rotation schedule to ensure 24/7 availability and response to critical incidents.
• Provide Level 1 and Level 2 support for database-related incidents, working closely with the Incident, management, and escalation teams.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or equivalent degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field.
• Proven work experience as a DBA or similar role, with expertise in database administration for large-scale systems.
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in database administration or operations - Strong knowledge in Oracle and related RDBMS technologies.
• knowledge in Oracle DB, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Greenplum, Sybase, MySQL, or IBM DB2 is a plus.
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience in Windows, Unix or Linux.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their RDBMS databases.
• Proficiency in Shell script or Power shell, SQL scripting, performance tuning, and optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with database monitoring and management tools.
• Experience with database backup and recovery strategies and techniques.
• Knowledge of data modeling and database architecture principles.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Demonstrated capacity for self-directed learning is required.
• Experience and knowledge of monitoring and monitoring tools e.g., SCOM, Datadog,
• Experience with issue, change control tracking software’s e.g., Remedy-ITSM, JIRA

As a Trusted Advisor:

What you will do-

• Build and maintain relationships with senior TIS Business Partners (Vice-Presidents & Directors) acting as a central point of contact for all Cybersecurity services.
• Engage with business executives to guide and direct Cyber actions within the business.

Deliver Cyber Security Services To The Business-

• Ensure new technology, services, applications, and third parties, have appropriate security controls embedded within the design and that risks are appropriately assessed and managed.
• Ensure that risk assessments are completed and guide the process for any exceptions to standard baselines or Enbridge policies.

Promote Cyber Security Awareness-

• Advocate and communicate in support of security culture and awareness initiatives.
• Provide communication or escalation path for Cybersecurity driven initiatives.
• Represent Cyber Security On Major Projects/Initiatives And Leadership Meetings
• Act as point of contact to executive leadership for reporting on the status of critical third-party security risk remediation.
• Ensure that appropriate stakeholders are aware of the security state of their business initiatives and that they understand their responsibilities regarding risk mitigation and remediation.

Required:

Who you are -

• Completion of a post-secondary degree in a related discipline
• Minimum 5 years' progressive experience working in IT in information systems, Cybersecurity or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated ability to apply information security best practices to critical assets and processes considering unique business requirements.
• Extensive experience articulating cybersecurity risk impacts and providing remediation options.
• Proven internal and external influencing skills at senior technical and management levels.
• Experience with decision making authority and the ability to engage stakeholders for decision making.

Preferred -

• CISSP or equivalent professional designation.
• Demonstrated knowledge of ISO 27001 and 27002, NIST, NERC SIP and SOX is strongly desired.

Academic And Experience Requirements-

The ideal candidate would meet all, or most of the below criteria:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 
• At least 6-8 years relevant and practical experience in a Network operations role. 
• Extensive in-depth knowledge of Network services and infrastructure with emphasis on network security. 
• Vendor certifications not a requirement, proven practical experience preferred. 
• Experience working in large/global enterprise IT with multiple distributed branch/campus sites. 
• Experience of working within ITIL aligned Service Management organisation. 
• Practical experience in managing large, complex, multi-vendor networks. 
• Deep understanding and practical experience in managing, maintaining, and optimizing the following network security platforms and services:
• Cisco ASA firewalls 
• Cisco AnyConnect Remote Access VPN 
• Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) 
• Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) 
• Next Generation Perimeter firewall technologies (preferably Palo Alto) 
• Application Delivery Controllers & Load Balancing (preferably F5 Networks) 
• Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) 
• Azure cloud networking
• Knowledge of SASE/SSE and Software Defined Perimeter architectures. 
• Experience with implementing and maturing network security controls and procedures. 
• Familiarity with Zero Trust Networking and Zero Trust Network Access adoption. 
• Understanding of modern security architectures, e.g. micro-segmentation, application and user identity. 
• Experience in managing networks that encompass the following technologies is also advantageous:
• Wireless LAN (preferably Cisco and Aruba) 
• Software-Defined-WAN (preferably Aruba/Silver Peak) 
• Unified Communications (preferably Microsoft Teams) 
• Multi-vendor LAN switching (preferably Cisco and Aruba) 

Experience in Network Automation and DevOps practices is highly desirable.
